Students Attend Law Day Event at the Franklin County Justice Center

On Thursday May 1st, a number of Franklin County Tech School seniors from Brett Erelli’s Criminal Justice classes and Randall Furash-Stewart's Government classes attended Law Day at the Franklin County Justice Center in Greenfield.

More than 100 students from Franklin County Tech, South Hadley High School, Mohawk Trail Regional School and Great Falls Middle School attended the event.

Students who attended were able to immerse themselves in how the justice system works on a daily basis. Students sat in on part of a real trial, and observed how court proceedings really happen, rather than what they see on tv. It was a inside look at the justice system, and all of the students said it was a great learning experience.

Along with touring each department in the building, the students also heard from guest speakers. The speakers spoke about the importance of the rule of law, and emphasized that it is vital that students know the laws and rights they have. Even if they do not pursue a career in law, it is great to have this basic foundation.
