FFA Members Compete in Statewide Horse Evaluation and Showmanship Competition

Congratulations to our FFA Horse Evaluation and Showmanship team that recently competed at the state level in Rutland at Holiday Acres Stables.

With the exception of Meadow Thompson (who was an exemplary leader and competitor) the team was composed of ninth graders competing against schools with dedicated Equine programs, while several of our students had never led a horse before.

These students dedicated extra time to studying for this event, traveled to practice at local farms, and were willing to stand in a riding ring in the sweltering heat wearing corduroy jackets for several hours last week to represent our Chapter.

Meadow placed second in the state in showmanship, and had the highest written exam score. The remainder of our A team earned a silver medal.
